This week’s newsletter celebrates a remarkable feat of endurance and determination as UAE-based sister Sofya Shamuzova plants her national flag at the summit of Kilimanjaro!
A businesswoman and mother of four, Shamuzova says that she successfully climbed to the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro this month, the highest peak in Africa which sits at an impressive 5,895 metres above sea level.
Shamuzova says that this victory marks the first of seven summits that she plans to conquer by 2026.
Over the next thirty months, Shamuzova says that she will tackle some of the most challenging peaks across the globe, including Everest, Aconcagua, Denali, Elbrus, Vinson, and Carstensz Pyramid.
When asked why she felt that the time is now to undertake such an ambitious project Shamuzova says that greatness awaits for anyone who wants it.
“I wanted to prove to myself and to others that anything is possible with the right mindset and determination. Climbing Kilimanjaro was not just about reaching the summit, but about setting an example for my children and for women everywhere that we can achieve greatness while fulfilling our roles as mothers and professionals,” says Shamuzova.
Shamuzova says that for her, the seven world summits project is a figurative and literal representation of breaking down barriers and inspiring other women to pursue their dreams, no matter the obstacle.
“My Kilimanjaro ascent is not just a personal victory but a proud moment for the UAE. Our flag symbolizes the strength, resilience, and determination that our country represents,” says Shamuzova.
