IN2MF is Who’s Next at the Porte de Versailles Paris

Indonesia’s International Modest Fashion Festival kicks off in Paris this month, and its famous handwoven textiles do not disappoint.

Bank Indonesia says it has partnered with the Indonesian Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs, the Indonesia Fashion Chamber (IFC) and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Paris at the Indonesia International Modest Fashion Festival to showcase the finest of Indonesian textiles and designers.

The IN2MF is integrated with the global trade fair Who’s Next in September at the Porte de Versailles, Paris. This event features wastra-based fashion, and is part of Indonesia’s aim to become the world’s modest fashion Mecca.

IN2MF Paris featured well-known Indonesia designers including Itang Yunaz, Wignyo, and Dian Pelangi.

Fashion patron Bank Indonesia, says that this program is part of its inclusive and sustainable economic growth plan, delivered via various Islamic Economic and Financial Development Programs (EKSYAR).

According to Bank Indonesia, the export value of modest fashion commodities during the period January to July 2024 reached USD 632.76 million, or an annual increase of 3.38%.

Commenting on the event, Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia Juda Agung says that modest fashion is not only a trend, but a global movement that reflects elegance, dignity, and cultural pride which in harmony with Indonesian values.

“The contribution of the modest fashion industry is needed to support our economy in a global market. Indonesia’s achievement has been ranked third in the modest fashion industry in the State of the Global Islamic Economy 2023 report. Going forward, Bank Indonesia together with our strategic partners will continue to support IN2MF in penetrating the overseas market and promote Indonesian wastra,” says Agung.

During the fashion festival week, a cooperation agreement was signed between the IKRA Council and Printemps Paris.

A spokesperson for IKRA says that his collaboration will strengthen the exposure of IKRA’s fostered products sold at the Printemps shopping centre in Paris.

Notes from the Editor: IN2MF Paris is sneak peak of more to come at the IN2MF Jakarta Festival from 30 October to 3 November 2024. It will be held in conjunction with the 11th Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF).

IN2MF has also been hosted in several cities during 2024, including Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, and Istanbul.
