According to Deputy Minister Aziz Nazar, several Austrian companies in the food, beverage, and industrial equipment sectors are exploring opportunities to collaborate with Tajikistan, aiming to support the nation’s industrialization goals.

The efforts to attract foreign trading partners are being led by Tajikistan’s Deputy Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Aziz Nazar, who is responsible for fostering potential industry partnerships.

During recent meetings with Austrian firms such as Esarom GmbH and VORAN Maschinen GmbH, DM Nazar says that the Tajik Government is focussed on advancing its national industrialization strategy.

According to DM Nazar, Austrian companies Esarom GmbH, which specializes in flavours and ingredients in the food and beverage industry, and VORAN Maschinen GmbHmm  a leading producer of fruit processing and juice production equipment, have both expressed a strong interest in establishing mutually beneficial ties with Tajikistan, showcasing their innovative products and technologies during the discussions.

Deputy Minister Nazar highlighted the vast opportunities available for Austrian companies to contribute to Tajikistan’s industrial expansion.

He outlined the government’s strategic steps to create a conducive environment for international investment, stressing the potential for long-term partnerships in key industrial sectors.

“These collaborations could not only support Tajikistan’s industrial ambitions but also allow Austrian companies to expand their footprint in Central Asia,” says DM Nazar.

Tajikistan’s industrial sector has demonstrated remarkable progress over the past decade. According to the country’s Statistical Agency, industrial enterprises produced goods worth USD3.4 billion from January to September 2024—a 15.3% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

The mining sector led this growth with a 35.9% increase, followed by a 10% rise in the processing sector.

The water supply, sewage, waste management, and recycling sectors experienced a 1.7-fold increase, reflecting diversification in industrial activities.

The Sughd region remains Tajikistan’s leading industrial hub, contributing 56.5% of total industrial production, followed by the Khatlon region at 23.4%.

The nation currently has 3,692 operational industrial facilities, underlining the expanding infrastructure to support industrial growth.

Esarom GmbH and VORAN Maschinen GmbH, among others, are positioned to leverage their expertise in advancing Tajikistan’s industrial capabilities.

These companies have a history of innovation in their respective fields and may provide Tajik businesses with access to cutting-edge technologies and practices. Such partnerships could improve local production efficiency and quality, supporting Tajikistan’s efforts to modernize its industries.

Deputy Minister Aziz Nazar has been responsible for driving Tajikistan’s industrialization agenda. Before his current role, DM Nazar served as Secretary at the Embassy of Tajikistan in Japan and as Director General of the External Economic Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ongoing discussions signal a promising future for Tajikistan-Austria industrial cooperation. These partnerships are expected to enhance Tajikistan’s industrial capabilities, promote economic diversification, and strengthen its ties with the global business community.
